The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has paid a working visit to the Inspector-General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohornu, at the Police Headquarters to discuss comprehensive security arrangements ahead of this year’s December in GH celebrations.
The meeting, which was attended by all Commissioners of the Ghana Police Service, focused on strategies to bolster safety across all event zones, hospitality centres, entertainment corridors, and high-traffic areas expected to host thousands of local and international visitors.
The CEO commended the Ghana Police Service for its consistent professionalism and commitment to national safety, praise reinforced by findings from the 2024 Tourism Report, which indicated that 65% of international visitors consider Ghana one of the safest destinations in Africa.
She emphasised that this reputation for safety remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s tourism appeal and a critical asset for the December in GH brand.

IGP COP Christian Tetteh Yohornu, in response, expressed appreciation for the proactive engagement by the GTA.
He assured the CEO of the Service’s full readiness to provide robust security before, during, and after the festivities, noting that the collaboration between both institutions is essential for delivering a seamless, incident-free December experience for all.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen coordination between the GTA and the Ghana Police Service as Ghana prepares to welcome visitors from around the world for the biggest annual tourism and entertainment season.
