Chief Executive Officer of defunct Capital Bank, William Ato Essien, has been granted GHC10 million bail pending an appeal.
Essien, granted bail by the Court of Appeal, was ordered to produce two sureties with a justication.
He was asked by the court to deposit his passport with the registry of the Court and report once every month to the Registrar
The three-member panel held that the imprisonment of Essien raises questions about Section 35 of the Court Act.
The accused’s lawyers sought bail at the Court of Appeal on health grounds. Essien was jailed 15 years in October 2023 for causing financial loss to the State.
