In the run up to the 2016 election, the politics of who owned the defunct DKM Micro Finance emerged and was a major campaign tool for the then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The first family at the time was accused of owning the company. The central bank in 2015 suspended DKM for breaches of the banking act.

Speaking in Nkoranza North of the Bono East Region where the defunct company operated more, John Mahama said the owner of the company is neck deep in the Bawumia’s campaign.

” In 2016, during my presidency, the NPP MPs and party leadership falsely accused my wife Lordina and me of being associated with the leader of DKM microfinance, which defrauded investors of their money. Recently, Vice President Bawumia was seen with the same individual funding his campaign as a crony of the NPP. I urge you to remember that while lies may spread quickly, truth ultimately prevails. When Bawumia visits, demand answers from him about his involvement and the fate of your investments, ” Mahama urged.
