…‘Akwaanye’, Mawrehene’s Goons Demolish Walls, Beat Up Security Personnel, Is He Too Hot For Police To Arrest?

Residents of East Lagon in the Accra Metropolitan district, are beside themselves with rage over the activities of two people- Nana Agyei Aggrey, the Mawrehene of Akuapem, in the Eastern Region and Nana Ofori Antwi Boasiako, the man with many aliases: Incantation, ‘Akwaanye’ an Akan word loosely translated in English as ‘the guy is bad’ on some lands in the area.

A Police Report dated 22 August 2024, reveals a startling account of how it is suspected the Mawrehene of Akuapem, in cahoots with ‘Akwaanye’ surreptitiously organised thugs, with the involvement of police, to beat up security personnel of Lions’ Security engaged by Tredstone Empire Company Ltd., to man its walled land at Adjiringanor, in Accra.

The Yaw Agba and Aisha Kere subsequently lodged a complaint to the East Legon District Police, who are investigating the alleged act of assault on the two private security personnel in charge on the day of the act.

A police report on the day of the incident states that on the day in question, they were on duty when a group of men numbering nearly a dozen arrived in an excavator and broke into a fence wall on the premises amidst threats of harm and life.

True to their words, before the security on duty could respond to any verbal threats, the suspects had pounced on them and beaten them to pulp, living their uniforms torn and bruised.

As that was not enough, they also made away with: Infinix Hot II Plus, Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge, Nokia 125, and Human Hair (Wig).

The victims then reported the matter and were given forms to fill and see a doctor, who treated them and processed the form for police action. According to the medical form, the two sustained injuries as a result of the assault on them.

When Nana Agyei was contacted by the police, he claimed ownership of the land, in a document signed by the District Police Officer, ASP Samuel Dzaka.

Enter, Nana Ofori Antwi Boasiako a.k.a Incantation, who was named as a suspect, out of the blue, appears pointing to Nana Aggrey Adjei as the organiser of the alleged act of assault and attempted land theft. the case is still at the police station. Incantation also told police he is aware about an ongoing litigation over the land.

Incantation, who is alleged to be living up to his nicknames; allegedly with some police backing and pampering, fronts land issues with his strings in the police service against anyone who crosses him. (Dossier on him from Darkoman soon).

Besides that, he would not confirm Nana Adjei Aggrey truly owns the land or really perpetrated the alleged acts of assault but claims he was only involved because he lived next to the property.

So incensed are the lawyers for Tredston Empire Company, that in a response to Akwaanye’s earlier letter from his lawyer Bobby Banson Esq. of Robert Smith Law Group, dated 23 August 2024, stated that “To our client, your client is no more than a busybody who claims to be owner of the adjourning land yet goes about fighting for and over the land more than the actual persons who claim interest in same. He is a busybody and my client’s reserve the right to treat him as such. He cannot cry more than the bereaved.”

Read excerpts of Lawyer Jerry John K Asiedu’s response to Lawyer Bobby Banson when it was reported in sections of the media that there had been a latest application filed in the Supreme Court:

Our letter dated 4h December 2023, which you referenced, was rightly directed at Dr. Gariba because of his personal actions on the land at the time in his capacity as Greater Accra Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service. Dr. Gariba as a Police Officer acted unprofessionally on the instructions of your client, hence the said letter. We are still hoping that the Inspector General of Police will deal with him accordingly.

2. With the various names and aliases your client is known by and called, it is okay if your client does not wish to be called by the said nicknames, but those are the names that people used to refer to him at the time that his activities on our client’s land came up and these names are widely used and evidence of same abounds.

3. With your client s threat of legal action, the same is very welcomed because nowhere in the said letter was he referred to as a con-man or fraudster. Nevertheless, we have several reports and a dossier of official and documentary evidences which confirm the fact of your client’s employing and leading thugs into our client’s land and destroying structures under construction and also using thugs and Land-guards to intimidate and interfere with our client’s peaceful enjoyment and development of its land.

4.Please do well to explain to your client that for a person who has no interest and indeed admits to having no interest in a particular land, his employment of and use of thugs and some unscrupulous police officers to destroy, interfere and cause mayhem on our client’s land amounts to crime and same is not different from “Land-guard activities.
5. To our client, your client is no more than a busybody who claims to be owner of the
adjourning land yet goes about fighting for and over the land more than the actual
persons who claim interest in same. He is a busybody and my client’s reserve the right to treat him as such. He cannot cry more than the bereaved.

6. You impute to me the awareness of some application for certiorari filed by your client at the Supreme Court which I need to debunk. I am unaware of any such Supreme Court case. Indeed, checks with the Directors and Company Secretary of Tredston Empire Limited show that no such court process has been served on any of them. I will therefore advise that you take the appropriate steps to verify the appropriate persons to be served
with such court processes. Until you ensure that this process is served on our client, please stop assuming that our client has been served.

7. It is important to put on record and for the benefit of your client that execution of the judgment in respect of the land in question has long been completed. Indeed, the order of writ of possession issued at the registry of the High Court was dated the 26th day of June 2023 and also the certificate of completion of execution was issued by the High Court to our client as far back as the 25th day of July 2023 (more than a year ago). That Execution was carried out by lawfully assigned Court Officials and assisted by officers of the Ghana Police Service upon a letter from the Judicial Secretary.

Meanwhile, calls to Incatation’s 024423…to respond to the allegations were not answered.

Stay tuned for more on how the police disregarded a penal action from Tredston and still sent men to Tredston’s land to arrest its workers.
