Popular Ghanaian businessman and Despite Media CEO, Dr Osei Kwame Despite, has responded to rumours linking him to the recent Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) arrest involving a manager of a prominent Ghanaian packaged food brand.

The controversy began on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, when journalist Saddick Adams, popularly known as Sports Obama, shared a tweet that quickly went viral.

In the post, he revealed that NACOC had arrested a manager of a “hugely popular Ghanaian packaged food brand” for allegedly attempting to smuggle illicit substances out of the country.

According to Saddick Adams, the Deputy Director of NACOC disclosed during an interview on Angel TV that the unnamed manager concealed illicit substances in the company’s food products and was apprehended at the Kotoka International Airport before he could transport the items abroad.

“A manager of a ‘hugely popular Ghanaian packaged food brand’ has been remanded in custody for allegedly attempting to traffic illicit substances out of Ghana,” the tweet read.

“Narcotic Control Deputy Director told Angel TV that the manager of the unnamed product brand, which is widely consumed in Ghana, concealed substances in the products and was arrested at the airport.”

Following the disclosure, social media platforms were flooded with speculation as users attempted to identify the company and individuals allegedly involved.

The NACOC official’s description of the brand as one widely used by Ghanaians led some netizens to point fingers at well-known personalities associated with food businesses, including Chez Amis CEO Belinda, also known as Big Cheezy, and Dr Osei Kwame Despite.

Amid the growing rumours, Dr Despite has addressed the speculation in a video shared on the TikTok page of Plus 1 TV on Wednesday, February 12.

In the clip, the businessman was seen seated in one of his luxury vehicles, jokingly asking the blogger why he had not been informed about his supposed arrest.

His lighthearted response has quickly gained traction online, with many Ghanaians praising his calm demeanour and sense of humour in the face of potentially damaging allegations.

Meanwhile, NACOC has maintained that investigations into the case are ongoing. The identity of the arrested suspect has not yet been officially disclosed, and authorities have urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information as the legal process continues.
