DJ Slim sparks TGMA drama, tells King Paluta: “Go hard or Go home”

In the lead-up to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), media personality DJ Slim has stirred controversy with a sharp retweet targeting rapper King Paluta, intensifying the competition for the Artiste of the Year award.

DJ Slim criticised Paluta for his seemingly relaxed approach in the face of strong rivals like King Promise and Stonebwoy.

“I go delete ur dreadlocks, have you seen the energy being exerted in the race by King Promise and Stonebwoy? You are coming against these big acts and you want to relax? Asuo sit up. Your days underground are over — this is the big stage. Go hard or go home,” he tweeted, urging Paluta to step up his game.

This exchange follows DJ Slim’s earlier assertion that only Stonebwoy or King Promise should win the top award.

He expressed disappointment at the idea of anyone else taking home the title, stating, “You can’t show less interest in the scheme and expect to be awarded. This nonsense must stop.”

King Paluta responded, labeling Slim’s remarks as “loose talk” and questioning the fairness of awarding artists based on public relations efforts rather than their actual achievements.

He defended his position, arguing that his music and impact throughout the year are sufficient for recognition, even without extensive PR campaigns.

DJ Slim’s latest remarks have shifted the conversation, suggesting that talent alone may not be enough to succeed in the competitive landscape of the TGMA.
