Legendary Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has hit at Kotoko fans who booed him at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The 35-year-old was jeered and booed by some Kotoko fans when he stepped on to the field to play against the Porcupine Warriors in a game that ended 1-0 in favour of Kotoko.
Gyan reacted to the incident with a video which lasted over three minutes targeted at Kotoko fans ‘in Accra’ according to him.
“I have this message for Kotoko fans in Accra. I am a Kotoko fan and I will always remain a Kotoko fan. When I came on I was booed by the fans which I understand but I want them to know that I will always be the one and only Asamoah Gyan. I want to tell them that when they travel outside of the country and get to the airport they should mention the names of their players,” he said in the video.
Gyan lasted 15 minutes on the field after replacing Hans Kwofie on the 75th minute mark to make just his 5th appearance of the season for the Citizens.
The former Sunderland and Stade Rennes forward rushed the center referee at the final whistle due to a foul which was not awarded to him but he denied attacking the referee in the dressing room.
