The founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, has some advice for Ghana Coach Chris Hughton regarding the upcoming match against Mozambique.
The Black Stars after being beaten by Cape Verde and drew with Egypt in the first and second group games in the ongoing AFCON 2023 tournament in Coat d’Ivoire will play their last group game against Mozambique on Monday, January 22, 2024.
The Black Stars need to beat Mozambique to qualify for the round of 16 of the competition.
In an interview on Accra-based Okay FM with Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie, Rev. Owusu Bempah said the coach must listen.
The Man of God said Dennis Odoi shouldn’t have lasted beyond the first half in Ghana’s match against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
“If the coach is listening to me, our number 2 Odoi should not start against Mozambique. You could see he was our major problem. The coach should find someone else to play that area”, he said.
He also added that although Salisu is a very reliable defender for Ghana, the current tournament is not favourable to him due to his recent injury.
“Salisu is a very good player but this tournament is not for him. I hear he was hurt for a long time before we went to Ivory Coast but he has to be changed.”
Rev. Owusu Bempah commended Majid Ashimeru, Kudus Mohammed and Djiku for holding the team. He also praised “the one wearing the number 13 jersey he is also very good”.
It is unclear whether the man of God’s advice is spiritual or tactical, but he believes that neither Dennis Odoi nor Salisu Mohammed should start the game.
