On Thursday, NPP’s Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia took his campaign activities to the Northern region where he held discussions with the Kumbungu Naa, Naa Alhaji Abu Iddrisu at his palace at Kumbungu.

On the table were issues of mutual interest including a peaceful 2024 election. Dr. Bawumia presented his vision to Naa Alhaji Abu Iddrisu and told him and the people of Kumbungu to support his quest to become the President of Ghana because he believes he can champion more development in the country especially in the five regions of the north, better than any other presidential candidate.

Kumbungu was originally part of the then-larger Tolon-Kumbungu Constituency, which was created from the former West Dagomba District Council. In 2012 Kumbungu was separated from the Tolon-Kumbungu Constituency to be a constituency on its own.

The NDC since the creation of the constituency has won both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in large numbers.

The NPP is leaving no stone unturned to close the gap between them and if possible flip the script in the constituency this time round. Dr. Bawumia’s work started with a courtesy call on the Kumbungu Naa Alhaji Abu Iddrisu at his palace.

The two interacted on many issues including development in the area as well as a peaceful election. Zugulana Prof. Adam Yakubu, spoke on behalf of Kumbun, spoke on behalf of Naa Alhaji Abu Iddrisu and had a message for the two leading candidates.

Dr. Bawumia reiterated his commitment to the development of the north and told the chief he has undertaken a lot of development in his capacity as a Vice President and this is preparing him for the highest office to bring more development to the people.

A mini rally at the Kumbungu Primary School Park was the next activity of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the Kumbungu Constituency. Dr. Bawumia told the electorate that he is an agent of development, therefore a vote for him to be President is a vote for development and progress. He told them to try the NPP in this election by voting number 1, to give the party an opportunity to bring more development to the area.
