Ghana’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Dr. Koma Steem Jehu-Appiah, has presented his Letters of Credence to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, formally accrediting him as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The ceremony took place at the Akorda Presidential Palace, where President Tokayev received credentials from eight newly appointed ambassadors representing Norway, Argentina, Mali, The Gambia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ghana.
Prior to the ceremony, Dr. Jehu-Appiah presented copies of his credentials to Alibek Kuantyrov at Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Astana.
During discussions with the Deputy Minister, the parties exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Ghana and Kazakhstan, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, agriculture, light industry, education and healthcare.
Both sides also explored ways to diversify trade and deepen collaboration in transport and logistics connectivity, energy development, food security and digitalisation.
The discussions underscored the shared commitment of the two countries to deepen political dialogue, strengthen economic relations and enhance cooperation within multilateral international frameworks.
In his remarks during the credential ceremony, President Tokayev briefed the diplomats on Kazakhstan’s socio-economic outlook, noting that despite global challenges, the country continues to maintain one of the most stable and dynamic economies in the region, supported by ongoing reforms and development initiatives.
Broad Diplomatic Accreditation
Dr. Jehu-Appiah is an accomplished medical practitioner and public health specialist with more than 35 years of professional experience in Ghana and internationally.
As Ghana’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, he is concurrently accredited to Belarus, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Armenia, making the presentation of credentials in Astana part of his broader diplomatic accreditation in the Eurasian region.
Earlier in January 2026, Dr. Jehu-Appiah presented his Letters of Credence to Vladimir Putin at a ceremony held in the Bolshoi Kremlin Palace, marking the formal beginning of his diplomatic mission in the Russian Federation.
The Ghanaian envoy has pledged to strengthen diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between Ghana and the countries of his accreditation.
