The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of 45-year-old TikToker Isaac Boafo, popularly known online as “Duabo King,” for allegedly publishing false information likely to cause fear and panic.
According to police, Isaac Boafo was picked up by the Ashanti Regional Police Command following a viral TikTok video in which he accused four police officers in Kumasi of engaging in inappropriate conduct with sexx workers while on night patrol.
Police intelligence officers tracked and arrested the suspect after the video gained widespread attention on social media. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to creating and sharing the content solely to attract views and engagement on the platform.
Authorities indicated that Boafo acknowledged he had no evidence to substantiate the claims made in the video.
He has since been formally charged and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The Police Service has used the incident to caution members of the public against the publication and circulation of unverified information online.
Officials stressed that spreading false allegations, particularly those that may damage reputations or incite public anxiety, constitutes a criminal offence under Ghanaian law.
The Service reiterated its commitment to ensuring professionalism within the ranks while also taking firm action against individuals who disseminate misinformation.
