The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) today, November 21, 2024, destroyed ballot papers for the Ahafo and Volta Regions due to serial number discrepancies.
The disposal was conducted in the presence of the media, political party agents, and other stakeholders.
The EC dismissed claims that political parties were responsible for uncovering the defect, asserting that its internal quality control mechanisms identified the issue.
However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has maintained that their representatives discovered the problem, prompting the corrective measures.
This development forms part of the EC’s ongoing preparations for the 2024 general elections, with a focus on ensuring transparency and avoiding discrepancies to maintain public trust in the electoral process.
