The Electoral Commission (EC) has decided to grant all media houses access to the national election results collation centre, reversing an earlier decision to limit media coverage.
At a press conference, EC Chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa emphasized the commission’s dedication to ensuring transparency, responsiveness, and inclusiveness throughout the electoral process. She reassured the public that the move reflects the EC’s commitment to providing accurate and timely information to all stakeholders during the election results collation.
.The national collation centre is expected to provide regular updates on the progress of the results collation, culminating in the final declaration of Ghana’s next president and parliamentary representatives.
“Today, the commission has accredited 10,000 journalists to cover all aspects of the election process. This will provide the citizenry with timely, verified information and inject the needed transparency into all stages of our work,” the chairperson stated.
The decision to allow full media access ensures that journalists can closely follow and report on the results as they are compiled.
