Education Minister meets TVET Institutions in Kumasi on new policy framework | GBC Ghana Online – The Nation’s Broadcaster

Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has met with Principals of Technical, Vocation, Education and Training, TVET Institutions in Kumasi to brief them on the new policy framework.

The framework seeks to produce fully equipped students with skills to prepare them for the job market.

The Education Minister, Dr Osei Adutwum said government in spite of the serious global economic challenges has invested so much to expand access to technical and vocational education in the country.

He commended President Akufo Addo for his vision to transform the TVET sector. He said under new reforms in the TVET sector there are two deputy ministers of Education in charge of TVET, who are contributing significantly to improve the sector.

He said an ecosystem has been created especially at a time when TVET has become more relevant to development and needs of the nation.

The Minister said the emphasis under the fourth industrial revolution is on Mathematics, Science, and English courses to produce all round graduates.

According to the minister, the tricycles made by Dabopa Institute in the north was singled out to show how the TVET program is going to solve the needs of the country.

The minister said TVET schools will be equipped to produce furniture for schools in country.

The principal of Dabopa Technical Institute, Mariam Mahama said a lot has been learnt and thanked the minister for the programme.

She said the institute has taken the lead in running four industries for which students are trained and paid.

She added the school is producing their own uniforms as well as safety wear among others.

For his part the principal of Kumasi Technical Institute, Gabriel Kingsford Osei said the institute is already linked with the industry where some are already out there to be trained by the industry.
