According to sources revealed by Kumasi-based  Angel FM, a club in the Egyptian Premier League is set to terminate the contract of a former Ghana Premier League striker who won the goal-king title twice.

Broadcast journalist Don Summer has claimed that Egyptian Premier League club FC Smouha are in the final stages of terminating the contractual relationship between themselves and Stephen Amankona.

The journalist further claimed that the club has been hugely disappointed with the performance of the striker and have reached a point of parting ways with him.

Amankona, 25, signed a three-year-contract with the Alexandria-based side in 2025 summer from Berekum Chelsea however he has failed to impress the club’s technical team and secure a permanent starting spot in the team.

The former Asante Kotoko forward has made a single appearance in potential 18-game in the 2025/26 and the two parties could part ways in the coming days.

The left-footed attacker won the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season goal-king gong with 19 goals whilst on the books of Berekum Chelsea and retained the title the following season with 15 goals.
