The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has handed over eight pickup trucks to some of its regional offices as part of the FIFA Forward Initiative, aimed at promoting football development worldwide.
Speaking at the ceremony, GFA President Kurt Okraku revealed that the vehicles cost $262,224, emphasizing that FIFA funds are utilized transparently and effectively.
Kurt Okraku highlighted the importance of understanding how FIFA Forward money is used, stating, “FIFA forward money comes in a straight jacket.” He explained that these funds are not used for second-hand cars or unnecessary purchases, stressing that “FIFA forward money is not hidden money.”
The distribution of the pickup vehicles is expected to enhance the operational capacity of the regional offices, facilitating the growth of football across Ghana. As the governing body of association football in Ghana, the GFA plays a crucial role in organizing leagues, cup competitions, and national teams. This move aligns with its mission to develop football infrastructure and support local talent.
Kurt Okraku further urged the media to understand the concept of FIFA Forward money and report accurately on its use. “It’s essential for people to learn how to report the truth,” he emphasized, adding that “truth would always win the battle.”
Under Okraku’s leadership, the GFA has been working to strengthen football in Ghana, partnering with organizations like Decathlon Ghana and Access Bank Ghana to support national teams and leagues.
The distribution of the pickup trucks demonstrates the association’s commitment to investing in resources that promote football development nationwide.
