Ejura MP ambushed by unknown assailants; beaten with sticks

Armed men have attacked and assaulted the Member of Parliament(MP) for Ejura /Sekyedumase constituency in the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Mohammed Bawah Braimah.

The MP, who  is  currently on admission at the Ejura Government Hospital was ambushed by the unknown assailants while he was distributing food supplies to his party agents at registration centers at Kasie – Nkwanta, a community about 15 kilometers from the constituency capital.

Eye witnesses said the MP was beaten with sticks and other objects by the attackers who appeared from nowhere.

The sources added that, it took the intervention of the community members at the said registration center to rescue the MP and his team from the hoodlums.

“There is one guy called Bala and another. They are the guys who led the attack on the MP”, a member of the MP’s delegation alleged.

“They used whole stick to hit the MP’s back and he fell, then Bala gave MP slaps on the floor “.

The MP has confirmed the attack to MyNewsGh.com, adding that, he is yet to known the motive behind.

However, supporters of the NDC in the constituency are pointing fingers at the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) who doubles as the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Sualisu Bamba.

Meanwhile, some supporters of the NDC who besieged the police station to demand police action over the matter were also allegedly beaten and dispersed by armed government soldiers.

The situation is said to have escalated tension in the constituency as some youth of the NDC are vowing to retaliate.

Some of the supporters have also accused the soldiers of “taking sides”.

All efforts to reach the MCE for his reaction on the matter proved futile.
