Bernard Mornah, a disqualified presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has described elections as “life and death matters” following his exclusion from the December 7, 2024, presidential elections. Speaking in an interview with Start FM, monitored by Ghanapoliticsonline.com, Mornah expressed his outrage at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to disqualify him and Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP) from the race.
Mornah, known for his bold political activism, criticized the EC for handling electoral matters arbitrarily, asserting that the commission cannot make decisions without considering the broader implications. “You don’t just come and say you have selected, and you will just go ahead with it,” he said. According to him, elections are too significant to be treated lightly, and he vowed to challenge the disqualification with all the resources at his disposal, even if it means risking his life.
“I and my party are going to use our blood to fight this disqualification,” Mornah declared, highlighting the emotional toll the EC’s decision has taken on his supporters. “The number of people in tears around me, you will not believe it. I may have the courage to contend with it, but others may not be able to. People have invested their all in this.”
The EC’s decision has sparked widespread discussion across political circles, as Mornah and Nabla were seen as key contenders in the upcoming elections. As the dust settles, Mornah’s determination to fight for his place on the ballot is expected to draw further attention to the credibility and transparency of the electoral process ahead of the 2024 elections.
