The funeral rites of the late Ghanaian gospel musician, Maame Tiwaa, are currently underway today, April 11, at the Bantama Presbyterian Park in Kumasi, drawing a large gathering of mourners from across the country.
The solemn event has attracted colleagues from the gospel music fraternity, business leaders, fans, and members of the general public, all converging to pay their final respects to the beloved music icon. Many attendees were dressed in black and red attire, symbolising mourning and celebration of her impactful life and ministry.
The atmosphere at the venue is filled with grief, reflection, and tribute, as friends, family, and admirers share memories of the late singer’s contribution to Ghana’s gospel music scene. Her music, widely known through the Asomafo band and her late colleague, Yaw Sarpong, continues to be celebrated for its spiritual depth and inspiration to many.
Tearful and deeply emotional scenes unfolded as the children and close family members of the late Maame Tiwaa filed past her mortal remains to pay their final respects. One after the other, they broke down in uncontrollable tears, wailing and clutching onto one another for support as they struggled to come to terms with their loss.
The funeral rites are expected to continue with various cultural and religious activities honouring her legacy and the lasting impact she made in gospel music and beyond.
