The Energy Commission’s marked its 25th Anniversary with a thanksgiving service in Accra

The Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, Oscar Amonoo Neizer says the Commission is working within its mandate to ensure that Ghanaians adopt energy efficient measures when it comes to the use of electrical appliances.

The Commission recently banned the importation of used and substandard electrical appliances and renewable energy products to protect the consumer from purchasing unsuitable appliances which then lead to high electricity bills.

Speaking at the Commission’s 25th Anniversary thanksgiving service in Accra, Rev Amonoo Neizer said the Commission is working to educate the public more on the importance of using energy efficient electrical appliances.

As the Energy Commission works to become a leading energy planning and regulatory institution with reputed excellence, innovation and transparency in Africa and beyond the Commission continues to make great strides in the sector.

25 years since its inception the Commission has regulated the technical operations of service providers in the electricity and natural gas supply industries.

Marking its silver jubilee with a thanks giving service in Accra, Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission Rev Oscar Amonoo Neizer confirmed that the mandate of the commission to regulate standards in the country’s energy space has been met.

He said the commission is proud of its achievements of ensuring energy efficiency and constant supply of power to consumers.

Speaking at the Commission’s 25th Anniversary thanksgiving service in Accra, Rev Amonoo Neizer said to ensure sanity and professionalism in the supply of power, more local electrical technicians are being trained to add on to the existing 14 thousand.

Board member of the Energy Commission, Dr Frimpong Mensah Bonso said the Commission would not have chalked up successes if staff had not committed their all to the development of the commission

Retired and active exemplary staff were recognized for their contribution to Ghana’s energy sector.
