Enterprise Group PLC, an insurance, pensions and real estate solutions provider, has inaugurated a Reproductive and Child Health and Family Planning Unit at the Sunyani Municipal Hospital to strengthen healthcare delivery in the Bono Region.

The GH¢2.4 million facility, delivered under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, replaces an old and dilapidated maternity block that was demolished to make way for the new structure.

The unit comprises staff offices, standard washrooms, a waiting area, a child bathing space and a cold room for vaccine storage, and is fully furnished with the required medical equipment. It is expected to enhance maternal and child health services, improve family planning performance and support immunisation, nutrition and child health promotion.

The Chief Finance Officer of Enterprise Group PLC, Mike Tyson, acknowledged progress made in maternal and child health in Ghana but noted that access challenges persist.

“Many mothers still face difficult conditions in accessing maternity services due to overcrowding, inadequate equipment and ageing infrastructure,” he said.

He explained that the project reflects the company’s commitment to improving health outcomes and supporting communities. “Every mother deserves safe and dignified childbirth, and every child deserves a strong start to life,” he added.

Mr. Tyson urged hospital authorities and staff to ensure proper maintenance of the facility and its equipment to guarantee long-term impact.

The Managing Director of Enterprise Properties, Kwadwo Nini Owusu, said the project was designed and constructed in line with Ghana Health Service standards.

“This investment will improve access to essential health services, particularly for mothers, infants and young children,” he said.

The Sunyani Municipal Director of Health, Dr. Richard Adinkrah-Kyeremeh, described the intervention as timely, noting that the hospital, established nearly a century ago, has experienced limited infrastructure expansion despite increasing demand.

He said the new facility would significantly enhance service delivery and expressed appreciation to Enterprise Group for the support, assuring that the facility would be well maintained.

The Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, on his part commended the company for the initiative, describing it as beneficial to the people. He called on the public and health workers to take ownership of the facility and ensure its sustainability.
