Enterprise Group PLC has launched “Enterprise Spotlight,” a national entrepreneurship challenge aimed at identifying, supporting and scaling promising Ghanaian businesses, particularly among the youth.
The initiative, unveiled in Accra, forms part of the company’s long-term strategy to invest in entrepreneurship as a driver of economic growth and job creation. It is being implemented in partnership with the Springboard Road Show Foundation (SRSF).
Speaking on behalf of the Group Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director of Enterprise Life, Jacqueline Naadu Benyi, said the programme was conceived during the company’s centenary celebrations as part of efforts to shape the next phase of its impact.
According to her, the initiative is rooted in the recognition that Ghana’s future depends significantly on the strength of its entrepreneurial ecosystem.

“Securing the future of Ghana means investing in the people who are shaping it,” she said, noting that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) account for between 90 and 92 percent of registered businesses in Ghana, employ about 80 percent of the labour force and contribute roughly 70 percent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
She added that the sector is largely driven by young people, with an average age of 33, underscoring the importance of targeted support for this demographic.
Enterprise Spotlight will select 24 entrepreneurs through a nationwide application process and take them through a structured development programme comprising screening, mentorship, pitching sessions and exposure to industry leaders.
At the end of the competition, the overall winner will receive GH¢100,000, while the first and second runners-up will take home GH¢80,000 and GH¢50,000 respectively. Semi-finalists will receive GH¢10,000 each, while quarter-finalists will be awarded GH¢5,000 each.
In addition, a “Most Resilient Award” of GH¢10,000 has been introduced to support an entrepreneur living with a disability.
Beyond the financial rewards, Mrs. Benyi emphasised that the initiative is designed to provide long-term value through mentorship, strategic guidance and access to networks that can help participants scale their businesses.
“The prize money is only the beginning. Each of the selected entrepreneurs will participate in a structured mentoring journey where experienced business leaders will guide them in strategy, leadership and growth,” she said.
Executive Director of SRSF, Comfort Ocran, described the programme as timely and transformative, noting that it provides a platform for entrepreneurs to gain visibility and access opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.
“Entrepreneurs are not simply receiving a prize; they are being onboarded onto a platform, a network and a proven system of support,” she said.
She explained that all selected participants will benefit from a comprehensive mentoring and counselling programme, including psychosocial support delivered in partnership with the Ghana Psychological Association.
Participants will also have their businesses showcased on Springboard’s media platforms, including “Springboard, Your Virtual University,” which airs on Joy FM and Joy News TV, reaching a nationwide audience.
Mrs. Ocran further noted that the initiative connects participants to a network of over one million young people, creating opportunities for partnerships, customer acquisition and peer learning.
The competition is open to entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 40 who operate registered businesses in Ghana, regardless of sector. Women and persons with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply.
