Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Camidoh, has opened up about the rare bond he shares with colleague musician, Stonebwoy, describing him as one of the few dependable figures in an industry he says often lacks sincerity.
Speaking in a recent interview on Hitz FM, Camidoh highlighted Stonebwoy’s consistent support, revealing that the award-winning artist has, on multiple occasions, created opportunities for him without expecting anything in return.
“There have been times he called or got his manager to call me about gigs he couldn’t attend and wanted me to take over, expecting nothing in return,” he said.
For Camidoh, such gestures go beyond professional courtesy, they represent genuine care in an environment where trust is often fragile. He stressed that regardless of what others might say, his personal experiences with Stonebwoy have shaped a deep sense of respect.
“I mean even if ten times someone comes to tell me Stonebwoy doesn’t like you, I would still not take it because I mean this person has fed me before, so for sure I do take advice from him,” he added.
Despite this strong connection, the “Sugarcane” hitmaker was quick to redefine the nature of their relationship. Rather than labeling Stonebwoy as just a friend, he sees him as a mentor and family figure.
“I will call him a brother, like a big brother rather than a friend. We don’t really talk casually like that, but I go to him when I need him,” he explained.
Beyond this bond, Camidoh admitted that building genuine friendships within the entertainment industry remains a challenge. He pointed to issues of mistrust and misrepresentation, noting that private conversations are sometimes shared and distorted.
“You will talk to somebody and they will go and sit with people they call friends and dissect it and make you look stupid. It happens a lot of the time,” he said.
As a result, the singer has become more guarded, choosing to rely on family and spirituality for support during difficult moments. He revealed that he often turns to his mother for prayers and guidance, especially ahead of major career decisions.
