Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Ibrahim Salifu has received his first-ever call-up to the Benin national team, marking a new chapter in his international career.

The 25-year-old, who currently plays for FC Drita in Kosovo, has been included in Gernot Rohrs squad for an upcoming international friendly against Burkina Faso later this month.

Salifu, born and raised in Ghana, has opted to represent Benin at the senior level.

The creative midfielder made his name in the Ghana Premier League with Eleven Wonders before joining Hearts of Oak in 2021, where he played a pivotal role in their league triumph and FA Cup success.

He has since continued to impress in Europe, helping FC Drita to a league title in Kosovo.

Benin, who recently qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), are placed in Group D alongside DR Congo, Senegal, and Botswana.
