Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has recalled brothers Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew for Ghana’s all-important AFCON 2019 qualifying clash against Ethiopia in a fortnight time.
Neither Andre nor Jordan has played for Ghana since September 2017 when the Black Stars drew 1-1 with Congo in Kumasi.
A close confidant of the Ayew brothers has confirmed to Ghana Sports Online the two players have been handed call ups to make the trip with the Black Stars to Ethiopa in a crucial Group F qualifier in Addis Ababa.
Kwesi Appiah suggested in an interview he was going to recall the brothers after Ghana’s disappointing 1-0 loss to Kenya in early September.
“The two players have been recalled by the Ghana coach and they will return to the national team,” the source told Ghana Sports Online.
Andre Ayew has been in fine shape for Fenebache in the Turkish Super Lig and has scored twice in 11 league games for the Turkish giants.
While, Jordan Ayew has started 7 games and completed 6 for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League this season.
The return of the duo means some players would lose their spots in the Ghana squad.
Striker Raphael Dwamena appears to be temporarily out of the team after failing to secure regular playing time at Levante.
Ghana Sports Online’s checks has revealed captain Asamoah Gyan, Majeed Waris and Jordan Ayew would be on the plane to Ethiopia.
