The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association met with the Head Coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
This meeting with Coach Otto Addo took place during the last periodic joint meeting of the Executive Council and Regional Football Association Chairmen.
In an open, candid, and constructive engagement, the Head Coach presented a comprehensive 56-page Technical Report.
The Technical Report was interrogated by the Executive Council and the Regional Chairmen of the Football Association, and the Head Coach provided additional responses.
Coach Otto Addo accepted full responsibility for the team’s poor performance and acknowledged some shortcomings. He went on to outline key areas that needed enhancement going forward. He indicated that he intends to build a strong and cohesive system that fosters discipline, accountability, and trust among players and the backroom staff while emphasizing a clear and recognizable playing philosophy.
The Executive Council and the Regional Football Chairmen shared the nation’s disappointment with the Head Coach at the meeting and the desire of all Ghanaians that the nation qualifies to the World Cup, hence the demand for better performance and results in the upcoming games, especially in the World Cup qualifying matches.
The Head Coach was informed that the Association would be holding further consultations with members and key stakeholders in the football ecosystem to enable the Association to come up with a comprehensive plan for the national team.
The GFA remains committed to taking holistic decisions, in conjunction with key stakeholders for the good and growth of Ghana football, with a strong emphasis on the senior national football team, the Black Stars. This process will be enabled by collective will and single-minded focus to restore the glory of the Black Stars.
