A young man who posed as an officer of the Ghana Armed Forces for seven years has been arrested after his cover was blown at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
According to reports, the suspect was apprehended while visiting his girlfriend, who is said to be a nurse at the military hospital. His presence on the premises reportedly raised suspicion, leading to further questioning by authorities.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the man had, for years, confidently worn a military uniform, conducted himself like a trained soldier, and successfully convinced many people that he was a legitimate member of the armed forces.
However, his impersonation came to an abrupt end when he was stopped and interrogated at the hospital. During questioning, he was asked to mention the military station where he was posted, identify his commanding officer, and state his rank.
Sources say he was unable to provide satisfactory answers to these basic questions, exposing him as an impostor.
Security personnel subsequently took him into custody for further investigations.
The incident has sparked public reaction, with many expressing shock over how the suspect was able to allegedly parade as a military officer for such a long period without detection.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing the full circumstances surrounding the case and any potential charges he may face.
