The family of a level 200 pharmacy student of the University for Development Studies (UDS) Tamale, who was allegedly stabbed multiple times to death, is demanding justice.
The deceased, Mohammed Zakiu Wumpini reportedly died on Wednesday September 25 after being allegedly stabbed in the chest at the University campus.
His lifeless body was found on Thursday September 26 on the University campus after several attempts to reach him on phone proved futile.
Initial reports suggest the possibility of an armed robbery, as Zakiu’s phone and motorcycle were missing from the scene.
However, accounts from his family indicate that his valuables were found intact, raising suspicions that this may have been a targeted killing rather than a robbery.
According to the family, the deceased informed them he was going to watch football after borrowing a friend’s motorbike but ended up at the school campus.
“He sent me a Snapchat message and said he was in trouble. We got alarmed but all efforts to get him yielded no positive result”
“We launched a search for him and also reported the matter to the police. We found him dead the next day at the University campus “
Meanwhile, school mates of the deceased have raised security concerns at the various hostels. The University authorities have since launched an investigation into the matter.
Police have confirmed the incident and stated that investigation is ongoing.
