Ghanaian forward Felix Afena-Gyan has opened up about the challenges he has faced in his football career.
The former Roma striker admitted that his career has taken a downturn but remains optimistic, believing these struggles are part of life’s journey and is motivated to work hard to regain his form.
Afena-Gyan gained prominence when he became the first player born after January 1, 2003, to score in the Italian top flight. He also became the third-youngest foreigner to score at least twice in a single Serie A game. His well-taken goals late in the game against Genoa secured a win for Jose Mourinho’s Roma and seemed to set him on a path to stardom.
However, since his debut for Ghana’s Black Stars, Afena Gyan’s career has seen a decline, moving from playing for Serie A giants AS Roma to Serie B side Cremonese.
In an interview on TV3’s Warm Up Plus, the forward discussed how challenging the past year has been for him.
“It has been a long journey, a difficult one and sometimes it’s good but that’s life.
“Let me use last year’s experience as an example, I’ve been through difficulties, but if you understand football, you’ll know it’s part of the game, it’s been difficult but that’s life and still hoping for the best he said
The youngster is keen on getting back to his best and being able to repay the faith football fans had in him.
