In a heartfelt gesture of support, the Minister for Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, MP for Karaga, visited the Tamale Teaching Hospital on April 9, 2024 to extend a helping hand to the medical facility.
Dr. Adam’s visit was in response to a previous request from the hospital’s CEO for assistance in addressing some pressing needs.
Upon his arrival, Dr. Adam wasted no time in fulfilling his promise to the hospital. He generously donated 10 water tanks, each with a capacity of 10,000 litres, to boost the hospital’s water supply infrastructure.
This contribution is meant to enhance the hospital’s ability to provide essential services to its patients and staff. The donation of the water tanks also reflects Dr. Adam’s commitment to improving the quality of public service provision to the Northern Region of Ghana.
The Tamale Teaching Hospital serves as a vital referral centre not only for the region but also for neighbouring countries such as Burkina Faso, Togo and Ivory Coast. By addressing the hospital’s water supply needs, Dr. Adam has demonstrated his dedication to supporting the health and well-being of communities across the region.
Expressing his gratitude for the minister’s generosity, the CEO of the hospital emphasised the importance of such contributions in ensuring the smooth operation of the facility. He highlighted the critical role that adequate water supply plays in maintaining standards of hygiene and facilitating patient care.
Dr. Adam’s donation is just one part of his broader efforts to support healthcare institutions in Ghana. He also pledged to provide additional assistance to the hospital, including the provision of dialysis machines to address the current shortage.
Further, Dr. Amin promised to address the issue of understaffing that has constrained the health facility, recognising the importance of having an adequate workforce to meet the healthcare needs of the community.
