First National Bank has recommitted to helping to raise funds and awareness for the early detection of breast cancer and treatment in Ghana.

The bank will not only make a cash contribution to the works of Run For A Cure Africa-Ghana – a not-for-profit organisation raising awareness and support for breast cancer treatment, but will also be participating in the annual 5km Run4ACure race through the principal streets of Abelemkpe in Accra.

The 5km-race is part of an awareness creation event scheduled for October 5, 2024 to draw hundreds of participants across the sub-urban communities within Accra, including First National Bank employees, customers and local residents. The goal is to promote early detection, educate and raise funds to support the treatment of breast cancer patients.

“We are proud to partner with the team at RunForACure in this vital initiative,” said the Chief Executive Officer, Warren Adams. “At First National Bank, we are committed to lifting up our communities in impactful ways; and we share in the prosperity that such an event brings to people dealing with the effects of breast cancer. They do not have to go through it alone, and so this year we are reassuring them of our help and support with RunForACure.”

RunForACure Coordinator, Rose Ohuegbe, praised First National Bank for their consistent support over the years. “First National Bank’s help and support has been instrumental in making this event possible year on year. Their commitment to our shared goal of combating breast cancer is truly inspiring.”

After the race, participants and spectators will converge at the Lincoln Community School to enjoy a festive atmosphere, with music, refreshments and information booths providing resources on breast health.
