A remarkably influential member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has called out persons he calls “neutral patriots” over their failure to praise the government for its achievements, noting that such persons either keep quiet about government’s achievements or find a way to downplay their impact or dent them.
For him, their actions expose their genuineness or otherwise with respect to their criticism of the ruling NPP government.
“If you really want to know the genuineness of the neutral patriots, watch how they react to good news. They are either mute or they will find a way to downplay or dent it,” he wrote on social media.
He made the comment following the unveiling of the first VW Vehicle Assembly Plant in Ghana yesterday and the seeming lack of praise from persons who regularly criticise government.
The unveiling of similar plants in other African countries, especially Rwanda, attracted much praise from some Ghanaians known to be critical of government.
Mr Asare Otchere-Darko contends that the silence of supposed neutral government critics exposes their insincerity or partially.
Asare Otchere-Darko, referred to as the Prime Minister of the Akufo-Addo administration, holds no official position, but is deemed to be exceedingly powerful.
