
George AfriyieFormer Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has called on the FA to take a measured approach in appointing a new head coach for the Black Stars.His remarks follow the GFAs announcement that Otto Addo has parted ways with the senior national team.Addo, 50, stepped down after the Black Stars suffered back-to-back pre-World Cup friendly defeatslosing 5-1 to Austria in Vienna and 2-1 to Germany in Stuttgart.Despite the World Cup fast approaching, Afriyie stressed that the FA should not rush the decision.”There should be no rush to appoint a new coach,” he said.”The FA must carry out broader consultations and appoint a good coach not just for the World Cup, but also for a long-term project beyond it,” he added.The Black Stars are set to regroup in May for their next friendly against Mexico, followed by a final warm-up match against Wales ahead of the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.Ghana will face Panama, England, and Croatia in Group L, marking their fifth appearance at the tournament.
