The Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM) recorded US$71 million in annual import levy collections in 2025, marking a significant increase from US$34 million in 2016, the Chief Executive of the bank, Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah, has disclosed.
Speaking at the bank’s 10th anniversary international conference on Wednesday, March 25, he described the growth as a clear indicator of GEXIM’s expanding financial capacity and strengthened operations over the past decade.
“Import levy collections increased from US$34 million per annum in 2016 to US$71 million per annum in 2025,” he stated.
Beyond revenue performance, the Chief Executive highlighted the bank’s strategic expansion and institutional strengthening. “We expanded our presence beyond Accra and developed working relationships with more than twelve development finance institutions in areas including trade support, training, and advisory services,” he noted.
He underscored reforms aimed at enhancing impact and sustainability. “We strengthened governance arrangements for portfolio companies, introduced structured technical support for clients, and aligned our strategy to Ghana’s food security and industrialisation priorities,” he added.
The developments form part of GEXIM’s broader efforts to consolidate its role in supporting Ghana’s trade and industrial transformation as it marks a decade of operations.
