Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has reflected on the key moments of the year, acknowledging both the setbacks and achievements recorded across national teams and domestic football.
Addressing journalists at a press soiree in Accra, the GFA President admitted that the year brought challenges, notably the Black Stars failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, but expressed optimism for the future following the teams qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He commended the Black Queens for their third-place finish at the 2024 Womens Africa Cup of Nations and applauded the Black Starlets for securing qualification for the 2026 Africa U-17 Championship.
Simeon-Okraku also highlighted the steady growth of the Ghana Premier League, pointing to improvements in television coverage, finances and fan engagement. He credited the Associations Power to the Youth policy for nurturing emerging talents across the country.
Weve gone through many phases, but I am confident that the future of Ghana football is extremely bright, he concluded.
