
President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has officially activated the 2026 strategic agenda for the national U-15 Girls team following a high-level meeting with the management committee on Monday, February 16, 2026.
The meeting marked a decisive step toward building a strong foundation for the Ghana U-15 Girls, with a clear focus on nationwide scouting, structured player development and competitive readiness ahead of key international and regional competitions scheduled for later this year.
President Simeon-Okraku expressed sincere appreciation to committee chairman Dr Charles Osei Antoh and his team for accepting the responsibility of guiding one of Ghanas most critical youth national sides. He charged the committee to work closely with the National Juvenile Committee and immediately begin extensive talent identification efforts across the country.
He emphasised that early preparation, strategic planning, and collaboration would be vital in assembling a competitive squad capable of representing Ghana with distinction.
In response, Dr. Osei Antoh thanked the President for the confidence shown in the committee and pledged their full commitment to building a well-structured and competitive team. He stressed the importance of streamlined operations and strict adherence to age eligibility criteria to protect the integrity of the development process.
He also called on scouts to intensify monitoring efforts at match centres hosting the FIFA-supported regional leagues, ensuring that talented players within the correct age bracket are identified and nurtured.
Regional Football Coordinator Daasebre Adu Asare commended the steady growth of girls football nationwide and encouraged the committee to expand its scouting reach by closely monitoring emerging prospects within the GFA Elite Academy structure.
Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah underscored the importance of aligning player identification with global best practices under the FIFA Talent Identification Programme. He stressed that player selection must remain transparent, merit-based, and age-appropriate, while highlighting the need for strong coordination between the committee, coaches, and technical staff to ensure consistency in development.
National Teams Director and Deputy General Secretary Alex Asante assured the committee of full administrative and operational backing. He emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards in player welfare, coaching oversight and regular monitoring of team activities to ensure optimal performance and professionalism.
The Management Committee holds overall responsibility for defining the strategic direction and long-term development plan of the national U-15 Girls team.
