The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has granted the National Juvenile Committee authority to establish approved modalities for the registration of juvenile players as part of its “Power to the Youth” strategy to strengthen grassroots football.

The decision was taken at the GFA Executive Council meeting in January 2026, which brought together all ten Regional Football Association chairmen. The Council mandated the committee to design and implement a standardised system to regulate the registration of young players nationwide, ensuring consistency, transparency and alignment with national development policies.

Chairman JoeSalam Abubakar will lead the National Juvenile Committee in developing practical procedures, guidelines and compliance frameworks to streamline the process across all regions.

The new modalities will apply to every age-grade category and jurisdiction, requiring clubs, schools and academies to follow uniform standards in registering and tracking players.

The initiative is expected to professionalise grassroots management and strengthen the foundation for identifying and nurturing future national team talents.
