Jerome OpokuGhana defender Jerome Opoku admits his club side, Istanbul Basaksehir, have had a challenging campaign in the Turkish Super Lig.The 26-year-old defender has been a consistent performer, starting 24 league games and contributing two goals and two assists.However, Basaksehir currently sits eighth in the table, struggling to match last seasons achievements.Weve had a pretty rough season so far compared to last season, Opoku admitted in an interview with Flashscore.We played in the Conference League but failed to make it out of the league phase. We are out of the League Cup also and now in eighth place in the league.Despite the setbacks, the Ghanaian international remains optimistic about his clubs European qualification chances.The aim is to make Europe, so we work harder from now till the season ends to try and achieve it, he said. Its going to be tough, but thats what the game is all about, so we keep pushing.Opoku’s performances in both club and international football have been impressive, and he remains determined to maintain his form as Ghana pushes for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
