The Group stage draw for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations has been conducted in Yaoundé, Cameroon, on Tuesday night.
The 24 teams that have qualified for the tournament were paired in 6 groups from A to F, with the top two teams in the group progressing to the round of 16. The best ranked 4 third-placed teams will complete the round of 16.
Ghana and Morocco are paired in a tricky Group C that also contains Gabon and Comoros who are making their third appearance in the competition.
Defending Champions and 2-time winners Algeria will start their title defence from Group E alongside fellow 2-time champions Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, and debutants Comoros.
Host nation Cameroon is in Group A alongside 2013 finalists Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, and Cape Verde, whose best performance was in 2015 when they reached the quarterfinals.
Runners-up from the last edition, Senegal kicks off their participation in Group B that contains Zimbabwe, Guinea, and the other debutants, Malawi.
Record 7-time champions Egypt will battle it out with 3-time winners Nigeria, Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau in Group D.
Group F has the other debutants Gambia paired with Tunisia, Mali, and Mauritania.
The group stage will start on January 9, 2022, and the final on February 6, 2022.
