Ghanaian authorities have detained social media personality Daniel Adomako, known online as “Sir Obama Pokuase,” following an intelligence-led operation targeting illegal weapons possession.
The arrest comes after weeks of investigation into videos showing individuals brandishing sophisticated firearms, which Adomako allegedly circulated on his platforms.
Assistant Commissioner Grace Ansah-Akrofi confirmed security forces recovered “a substantial number” of illegal arms and ammunition during the operation. Adomako is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
In a related development, three other suspects Prince Ofori, Yayra Abiwu, and Emmanuel Kwayke are in custody over death threats and false news publications linked to last week’s military helicopter crash. The Police Service reiterated its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and curbing weapon proliferation, urging the public to share credible tips.
“All actions follow due process,” the statement emphasized, promising further updates. The crackdown highlights growing concerns about social media’s role in amplifying criminal activity in Ghana.
