Ghana Premier League: Real Tamale United pleads for mercy

Ghana Premier League side Real Tamale United have rendered apology to the football loving fans of Ghana and the Ghana Football Association for fielding unregistered players in their outstanding game against Dreams FC on June 12, 2024 at the Theatre of Dreams. 

The Tamale based team fielded an unregistered players in place of their registered players after they failed to get their players to honour the game. The GFA has since charged some officials of the club including Zakaria Safianu – CEO, 

Abdul Samed Iddrisu- Team Staff, Abdul Gafaru Salifu Team Staff, Sylvester Yaw Apanka- Welfare Officer, and Iddi Manzah Alhassan -Assistant Coach 

With a breach of section 34(6)(d) of the GFA Ghana Premier League Regulations, 2019, following Real Tamale United’s Ghana Premier League game against Dreams.

The club has since released a club notice courting for mercy and sympathy from the general public and the Ghana Football Association. RTU will slug it out with Accra Great Olympics for the final match day of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season. 

According to the statement, the team described their actions as one that is not deliberate and reiterated their stance of not downplaying the relevance of the Ghana Premier League.
