Ghana Reinsurance PLC host the 20th edition of its Annual International Seminar from February 22nd to 28th, 2026. This is one of the flagship capacity-building initiatives in the African re-insurance and primary insurance space. It is designed to enhance technical skills in underwriting and claims management; facilitate professional networking across Africa and global insurance markets; and support knowledge exchange on cutting-edge industry trends and challenges.

The 20th edition of Ghana Re’s Annual International Seminar will be held at Aqua Safari Resort, a popular coastal resort destination in Ada-Foah, which is located in the eastern part of the Greater Accra Region. Given Ghana Re’s position as one of Africa’s oldest and largest reinsurers with clients across the continent, this seminar also serves as a key forum for developing best practices and reinforcing market capability.

This is the first time Ghana Re is organizing both its life and non-life (general) seminars simultaneously; in past editions they have been held separately.

The life insurance segment of the seminar will be held on the topic: “Shaping the Future of Life Underwriting and Claims Management: AI, Big data, and Automation.”

The resource persons to handle the topic will be Mrs. Felicia Oye Armah, Head, Life Department, Ghana Re and Mr. Dwaipayan Dutta, from JB BODA Group.

The non-life segment will be held on the topic: “Advanced Property Insurance Underwriting and Claims Management.”

This will be handled by Dr. Kwaku Appietu-Ankrah, GM Technical Operations, Ghana Re and will centre on best practices, emerging trends, risk considerations and claims oversight specifically within property insurance and reinsurance underwriting.

Altogether, about 100 participants are expected for the seminar. In addition to the participants from Ghana, others are expected from Gabon, Ethiopia, Sudan, Togo, Zambia, Kenya, Rwanda, Malawi, Liberia, Namibia, Kenya and Cameroun. They will comprise insurance industry regulators, insurers, brokers and reinsurers.

These seminars typically feature technical sessions on underwriting, reinsurance structures, and claims management, case study presentations and panel discussions led by industry practitioners, as well as structured networking opportunities for cedants, reinsurers, brokers, and consultants and this year’s edition promise to be no different; Exciting, Educative and Informative.
