
Barau FC midfielder Nana Kwame Abraham suffered a deep cut to his neck after being attacked by Katsina United fans during their Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) clash on Saturday afternoon.The 23-year-old was reportedly assaulted moments after Barau FC equalised against the home side in their Week 12 fixture of the ongoing season.Barau FC confirmed the incident on X (formerly Twitter), posting a photo of the injured player with blood on his neck. Katsina United | 11 | Barau FC.The violence reportedly erupted shortly after Orji Kalus 69th-minute equaliser, which infuriated some sections of the home supporters.Although the match ended 11, the disturbing incident has once again raised concerns over fan behaviour and security in the NPFL. It follows a recent case where Kano Pillars supporters attacked a referee after 3SC scored a late equaliser in another league fixture.Nana Kwame joined Barau FC from Nigerien side AS GNN ahead of the 2025/26 NPFL season.Born to a Ghanaian father and Nigerien mother, the energetic midfielder has provided one assist in seven appearances so far this campaign.
