Ghanaian players abroad: Nuamah, Jerry Afriyie and Caleb Yirenkyi shine with goals for their clubs

The weekend action of football saw several Ghanaian players make impacts in leagues around the world. From crucial goals to standout performances, they showcased their talents on international stages.

England’s Premier League saw a standout performance from Callum Hudson-Odoi, who netted the match-winning goal for Nottingham Forest in their stunning 1-0 victory against Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Thomas Partey played 76 minutes for Arsenal in their tightly contested 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Other notable performances include Kamaldeen Sulemana’s full game for Southampton in their loss to Liverpool and Antoine Semenyo’s contributions to Bournemouth in their 2-2 draw against Tottenham.

Jerry Afriyie made headlines with a brace for CD Lugo in Spain, despite their narrow 3-2 defeat to Barakaldo C.F. Additionally, Kwasi Sibo saw action for Real Oviedo in their 1-0 loss, while Alfred Duncan contributed 63 minutes for Venezia in Italy’s Serie A, where they drew 1-1 against Como.

In the Serbian SuperLiga, Ebenezer Annan scored for Crvena zvezda in their emphatic 3-0 victory over Radnicki Nis. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Addai made a notable contribution for Qarabag in Azerbaijan, coming off the bench to score in their 3-1 win against Araz. Caleb Yirenkyi also pulled some strings in the Danish League as he found the back of the net, helping Nordsjaelland secure a 3-1 victory over Vejle.

The weekend also featured contributions from Ghanaian players across various other leagues, including Ligue 1 in France and Bundesliga Il in Germany.

Ernest Nuamah played a vital role in Olympique Lyon’s 2-0 victory over OGC Nice with a lovely goal, while Christopher Antwi-Adjei was instrumental for Schalke in their 2-1 win against Hertha Berlin. These performances illustrate the growing presence of Ghanaian players in European leagues.
