Ghanaian forward Jalal Abdullai has completed a permanent transfer to Molde FK after signing a four-year contract that will keep him at the Norwegian club until the end of the 2029 season. The 21-year-old striker joins the Eliteserien side from Swedish club IF Elfsborg following an impressive loan spell during the 2025 campaign, where he quickly became a fan favourite.Abdullai scored eight goals and registered several key contributions in 22 appearances across all competitions for Molde last season. His combination of physical strength and blistering pace made him a nightmare for defenders, and he notably recorded a top speed of 37.1 km/h during a clash against FK Bodo/Glimt at Aker Stadion – the fastest speed ever measured at the venue.Speaking after completing the move, Abdullai expressed his excitement about returning to Molde permanently.I am very happy to be here. The way I was treated last year made it feel like family. I have never experienced anything like it in my life, he said. The Ghanaian revealed he rejected several offers from other clubs in order to return to Molde, adding that even his mother encouraged him to rejoin the Norwegian side if he felt happy there.Molde sporting director Ole Jakob Strandhagen admitted negotiations with Elfsborg were challenging as the Swedish club were initially reluctant to sell the striker. However, both sides eventually reached an agreement, allowing Molde to secure the highly rated forward on a long-term deal.Strandhagen praised Abdullais qualities, describing him as a player with extreme speed, strong presence in the box and enormous potential.Abdullai will now look to build on his impressive debut season and help Molde push for success domestically and in Europe while continuing his development as one of Ghanas promising young attackers.
