Ghanaian winger David Atanga has hinted at Lawrence Ati-Zigi possible transfer to German Bundesliga outfit Bochum.
The Black Stars goalkeeper plies his trade for Swiss outfit St Gallen and is currently the first choice shot stopper for the club.
The former Red Bull Salzburg goalkeeper recently extended his contract at St Gallen keeping him at the club until 2027.
Despite having a running contract, Atanga, who plays for KV Oostende has disclosed his close pal, SAti-Zigi could secure a move to Bochum to join his former coach Peter Zeidler at the club.
Atanga and Ati-Zigi played together during their stint with Red Bull Salsburg in the Austrian top-flight.
“Although I haven’t had a chance to speak with Ati-Zigi but I’m sure his former coach at St Gallen will sign him to Bochum” Atanga told Accra-based Mothers FM monitored by Footballghana.com.
Meanwhile, Bochum are said to have expressed interest in Lawrence Ati-Zigi following his outstanding performance in the recently concluded season.
The Bundesliga outfit narrowly escaped relegation and are keen on bolstering their team ahead of next season.
However, initial meetings have taken place to get both parties to reach a deal as soon as possible.
Bochum coach Peter Zeidler is said to be huge admirer of the Black Stars shot stopper and is keen on landing Ati-Zigi for the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign.
Zeidler previously worked with Ati-Zigi at Liefering, Sochaux and St Gallen before he joined Bochum in Germany. He is willing reunited with the Ghanaian goalkeeper at Bochum.
Ati-Zigi has established himself as key member of St Gallen team since joining the club in 2020.
In the just ended season, he made 37 appearances for St Gallen, conceding 51 goals and keeping 6 clean sheet in the Swiss top-flight.
Ati-Zigi has been Ghana’s first choice since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, briefly losing his spot to Richard Ofori during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, but he has since reclaimed his position.
