Mrs. Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie (ESQ), a former Council of State member and chairperson of the “Akyere” book launch, has praised Mr Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo for documenting his life journey in his new book. She commended Mr Ayeboafo for creating a valuable record for future generations.

Mrs. Afenyi-Dadzie explained that the book’s title, “Akyere,” refers to a never-drying stream in Mantse-Efija Kwabre in the Ashanti region, symbolizing resilience and endurance.

She shared her own experiences with Mr. Ayeboafo, highlighting his strong advocacy for press freedom and responsibility. She lauded his dedication to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), where he played a crucial intellectual role and represented the Association at both local and international conferences.

“He espoused successfully the fact that provisions on freedom and independence of the GJA were not there and inhabited a relatively new constitution, none at any other time in our history, and therefore we should expect negative consequences from the establishment, particularly the security agencies.” Mrs. Afenyi-Dadzie remarked.

She emphasized Mr Ayeboafo’s unwavering commitment to truthful and factual reporting, as well as his dedication to objectivity and impartiality. Mrs. Afenyi-Dadzie also noted Ayeboafo’s belief in the importance of media professionals prioritizing their communities over their employers, quoting Chinua Achebe’s “Anthills of the Savannah”: “A cock that crows in the morning belongs to one household, but its voice is the property of the whole neighborhood.”
