GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club launched at University of Lome, Togo

The Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) has launched the GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club at the University of Lome in Togo.

This event was led by a Ghanaian delegation headed by the Dean of Students Affairs at the University of Ghana, Prof Rosina Kyerematen, who also served as the Chairperson for the ceremony.

Other notable dignitaries who were at the event included Tsonam Cleanse Akpeloo, the Greater Accra Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Doyen of the Faculty of Economics and Management – University of Lome and the Chief Executive Officer of GITFiC.

The Special Guest for the event was the 1st Vice President of the University of Lome.

The establishment of the GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club signifies a significant step towards fostering academic discourse and intellectual exchange on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) within the academic community.

This initiative aims to create a platform where students can engage in meaningful discussions, share knowledge, and develop insights derived from scholarly research on AfCFTA and its implications for regional integration and trade dynamics in Africa.

Chairperson Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, in her keynote address, emphasized the club’s importance in academia, highlighting its role in fostering innovation, critical thinking, and contributing to knowledge on regional integration, aiming for a more equitable and interconnected Africa.

The GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club will offer students experiential learning through seminars, workshops, and collaborations, providing practical insights into regional trade agreements and enhancing their skills.

Mr. Tsonam Cleanse Akpeloo expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating: “This club represents a strategic platform for nurturing future leaders who will drive sustainable growth across African nations.

“By harnessing the expertise and diverse perspectives within our academic community, we can collectively contribute to the realization of AfCFTA’s objectives.

The launch of the GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club at the University of Lome marks the beginning of a new chapter in the academic exploration of AfCFTA and its potential to transform Africa’s economic landscape.
