The Global Shea Alliance (GSA) has launched the SHEA 2026 conference, an international platform aimed at strengthening the global shea sector.

Organised in collaboration with Shea Network Ghana and aligned with 24-Hour Economy initiative, the conference seeks to support a national strategy to boost productivity, create jobs and drive industrial growth through round-the-clock economic activity.

The three-day event will take place in Accra from April 27–29, 2026 at the Accra International Conference Centre under the theme “Beyond Borders”. It will focus on improving livelihoods for women shea processors and producers while promoting cross-border collaboration.

The 18th edition of the annual conference is expected to bring together industry players, policy-makers, investors, brands and development partners to discuss market trends, sustainability, innovation and resilient supply chains across the shea value chain.

Events will include the Shea Expo, exhibitions and a Deal Room to facilitate business partnerships and investment opportunities.

Northern Regional Minister Ali Adolf John described the shea tree as a vital economic resource, supporting livelihoods and food security across northern Ghana and the wider Sahel, particularly for women engaged in the sector.

He stressed the need to support women entrepreneurs and expand export potential through value addition and regional collaboration.

North-East Regional Minister Ibrahim Tia called for increased investment to drive economic growth and poverty reduction, while Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority, Emmanuel Abeere-Inga, reaffirmed commitment to positioning northern Ghana as a hub for sustainable shea production.

Managing Director of GSA, Aaron Adu, said the conference will address evolving regional policies and promote business-to-business engagement to enhance competitiveness and long-term industry resilience.

He added that stronger collaboration, targeted investment and enabling policies are critical to unlocking the full potential of the shea value chain.
