The Chief Director of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation Ghana, Wilhelmina Asamoah, has commended the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) for donating GH₵40,000 to support the government’s Sports Fund initiative.

The donation was made during a recent working visit by the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to the GOC headquarters in Accra, where he met with GOC President Richard Akpokavie and other officials to discuss ways of strengthening collaboration to support Ghanaian athletes.

Mrs. Asamoah expressed appreciation to the GOC leadership for the contribution, describing it as a demonstration of the committee’s commitment to the development of sports in the country. She noted that the Ministry values the partnership with the Olympic body and will continue to work closely with it to ensure athletes receive the necessary support to compete successfully on the international stage.

During the meeting, Mr. Akpokavie presented the cheque to the Minister in the presence of officials from the Ministry and representatives of various sports federations. He reaffirmed the GOC’s commitment to working with government to improve athlete welfare and promote sports development.
